CMT was commissioned by Marshfield – a city situated in the fast-growing Springfield, MO, region – to prepare its Community Growth Plan, the City’s first update to its comprehensive plan in more than 15 years. The plan’s scope emphasizes:

• Meeting demand for new residential growth
• Identifying ways to more effectively engage in the region’s powerful economic engine
• Balancing capital improvement initiatives – such as providing improved local roads and sanitary sewer access – with quality-of-life amenities such as city-wide bike trails, sidewalks, and recreational areas.

Detailed sub-area plans were provided to revitalize Marshfield’s historic downtown, improve aesthetics and walkability along a key commercial corridor, expand manufacturing opportunities in an industrial park with a Class I rail line, and detail future development of land surrounding a new interchange on I-44.

The Growth Plan received the 2020 Outstanding Plan Award by the American Planning Association Missouri Chapter recognizing the methods of public involvement to encourage participation. The plan was also noted for its detailed implementation plan with specific action items, completion dates, and assigned community partners to assist in their implementation.
